STOCKTON, Calif. (AP) -- Guillaume Yango had 15 points and 10
rebounds Sunday to lead the University of the Pacific past Cal Poly
83-62 in a Big West Conference game at Spanos Center.
Pacific never saw its lead fall below 15 points in the second
The defending Big West champions improved to 8-2 and 3-0 in
league while stretching their Big West winning streak to 16 games.
Dawin Whiten scored 17 points to lead Cal Poly (3-7, 1-2).
Pacific built its biggest lead at 64-39 on Gray's 3-pointer
midway through the second half.
The Tigers then cruised to the finish with reserves playing most
of the final 10 minutes.
Twelve Pacific players scored and the Tigers' bench outscored
Cal Poly's 48-22.
After Cal Poly took an early 7-5 lead, Pacific responded with a
26-2 blitz that was completed by a run of 16 unanswered points.
The Mustangs cut the 22-point deficit to 13, but Pacific scored
the final six points of the half to take a 42-23 advantage at the
Yango set the early tone by dominating inside with 15 points and
eight rebounds in 17 first-half minutes.
He played just seven minutes in the second half, which was
typical for Pacific's starters.
