AKRON, Ohio (AP) -- Rick McFadden scored 11 of his 15 points in a
22-8 run spanning halftime in which Akron held Ohio without a field
goal and took control on the way to a 71-59 victory on Sunday.
McFadden hit a 3-pointer with 5 seconds left in the first half
to tie it at 30-30. The lead stretched to 49-36, including two more
threes and a layup by McFadden, before Leon Williams made a layup
with 10:08 left in the game, the Bobcats' first field goal since
3:00 before the break.
Bubba Walther also made two 3-pointers in the streak and
finished with 10 points. The Zips (7-3, 1-1 Mid-American
Conference) never trailed by less than 8 the rest of the way.
Darryl Peterson also had 15 points and Dru Joyce added 14,
including 3-of-4 3-point shooting.
Sonny Troutman scored 12 points for Ohio (5-4, 0-1), and Leon
Williams added 11.
