MALIBU, Calif. (AP) -- Glen McGowan scored a season-high 31 points and had a career-high 22 rebounds to lead Pepperdine to a 78-63 win over Colorado State on Monday night.

McGowan, a senior who needed three points to reach 1,000 for his career, was nine of 19 from the floor and 10 of 18 from the free-throw line. Ten of his rebounds came on the offense end.

Alex Acker had 18 points and five assists for Pepperdine, while Yakhouba Diawara added 12 points.

Jon Rakiecki led Colorado State (8-5) with 18 points.

Colorado State twice whittled down what was mostly a double-digit deficit to seven in the last 3 minutes. But after making just 17 of its first 30 free-throw attempts, the Waves (10-5) sealed the game by making 11 of 13 in the final 2 minutes.

Three Colorado State players fouled out, including Matt Nelson, the Rams' standout center who came in having made 79.6 percent of his shots over his last four games. He scored 10 points before fouling out with 3:06 left.

Center Stuart Creason and guard Andrew Patterson also fouled out.
