CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Zac Schlader scored 25 points and
grabbed nine rebounds to lead Austin Peay to a 60-50 victory over
Southeast Missouri in the Ohio Valley Conference opener for both
teams Thursday night.
William Durden and Maurice Hampton both chipped in with 10
points for the Governors (3-10, 1-0), who shot 44.8 percent from
the field.The Redhawks (5-7, 0-1) pulled to within four points twice in
the second half, the final time coming with 6:15 left and Austin
Peay leading 42-38.But the Governors answered with a 6-0 run capped by a Hampton
jumper to lead 48-38 with 4:59 to play.The Governors jumped out to a quick 8-0 lead and stretched their
advantage to 25-13 with 3:47 left in the first half on a layup by
Levi Carmichael.Austin Peay led 27-18 at halftime.Reggie Golson led Southeast Missouri with 18 points and nine
rebounds, and Dainmon Gonner had 16 points. The Redhawks shot 42.9
percent from the field.
