LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) -- Darris Manciel's 10 points and seven
rebounds led McNeese State to a 69-57 victory over Texas State in
the Southland Conference opener for both teams Thursday night.
Both teams shot poorly, with McNeese hitting only 38.2 percent
of its shots and Texas State 39.6 percent.But McNeese (6-6, 1-0 SLC) benefited from balanced scoring that
included 47 points from its reserves. Andrew Queen and J.T.
Williams each scored nine points, while Kinley Sellers and John
Ford each scored eight.Anthony Dill led Texas State (6-6, 0-1) with 16 points and 13
rebounds, while Josh Naylor scored 14 and Rory Green 13.But Texas State got little scoring otherwise and also turned the
ball over 22 times, leading to 15 McNeese points.
