BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) -- Kevin Downey scored 19 points to lead
Canisius to a 75-63 win over Iona Monday night.
Leading 24-22 with 7:04 left in the first half, Canisius (4-9,
2-2 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) closed out the stanza with
a 13-2 run for a 37-26 halftime lead.
Iona (4-10, 0-5) opened the second half with a 3-pointer by
Ricky Soliver to cut the Canisius lead to eight. But Canisius
maintained a double-digit lead the rest of the half after Downey
answered with a field goal and Harris followed with a 3-pointer.
Canisius matched a season-high with nine 3-pointers in the game.
Greg Jenkins led the Gaels with 20 points. Steve Burtt had 18
for Iona, but went 1-of-10 from beyond the 3-point arc.
Canisius snapped an eight-game losing streak to Iona that
included a loss to the Gaels in the first round of the MAAC
