ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) -- Junior Pehoua's fade-away jumper at the buzzer gave Hampton a 70-68 overtime win over South Carolina State on Monday night.

The jumper was only the second basket of the night for Pehoua. Jeff Granger led the Pirates (5-9, 3-2 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) with 28 points and seven rebounds.

The game was close throughout. The teams were tied at 22 at half, and the Bulldogs (7-7, 1-3) tied it at 57 with five seconds to go in regulation on freshman Derek Moore's turnaround 3-pointer.

In overtime, South Carolina State took a 62-59 lead on Demeco Heath's 3-pointer with 3:20 to go, and the Bulldogs held on to the lead until a 3-pointer from Granger put Hampton ahead 65-64 with two minutes left.

Granger hit another 3-pointer a minute later to put the Pirates ahead 68-66, but Heath hit two free throws to tie the game at 68 with 36 seconds to go.

Brian Mason led South Carolina State with 23 points and pulled down eight rebounds, while Thurman Zimmerman added 21 points and eight rebounds.

Bruce Brown was the only other Pirate in double-figures with 15 points.
