WASHINGTON (AP) -- Freshman Jeff Green scored 10 of his 16 points in the second half, and Georgetown rallied from a 12-point deficit to beat Rutgers 62-55 Tuesday.

The Hoyas closed the game with a 32-15 run, scoring more points (20) in the final seven minutes than they did in the entire first half (18). Green led the comeback with six of his 10 rebounds and four of his five blocks after halftime.

Brandon Bowman overcame six turnovers with 11 points and 11 rebounds for the Hoyas (10-4, 2-1), who outrebounded Rutgers 26-9 in the second half.

Juel Wiggan scored a career-high 23 points for the Scarlet Knights (6-6, 0-2) in his first start of the season. Wiggan started for leading scorer Quincy Douby, who was benched by coach Gary Waters for the first five minutes for unspecified reasons.

Douby added 13 points, but Rutgers was hurt by a poor shooting night from Ricky Shields, who went 2-for-15 from the field and finished with eight points.

The beginning of the game was a mess, with both teams combining for seven turnovers and just three points in the first five minutes. Rutgers committed three turnovers in its first three possessions, matching the number it had in the entire game when it tied a Big East record for fewest turnovers in an overtime loss to Pittsburgh on Saturday.

The Scarlet Knights opened a double-digit lead after two 3-pointers and another long jumper from Douby and pulled ahead by 12 late in the first half. Rutgers led 26-18 at halftime, taking advantage of Georgetown's 0-for-9 shooting from 3-point range and the Hoyas' 10 first-half turnovers. Bowman had five turnovers at the break.

Rutgers led 40-30 in the second half when Georgetown began a 14-4 run that tied the game with 5:42 remaining. The Hoyas took their first lead, 50-47, on Darrel Owens' 3-pointer with 3:12 to play.
