Charlotte 91, UAB 85

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) -- Eddie Basden had 18 points and 11
rebounds and reserve forward Chris Nance scored 11 critical points
down the stretch to lead Charlotte to a 91-85 victory over UAB.

Point guard Mitchell Baldwin had 17 points and 7 assists to help
Charlotte win its eighth game in a row. The 49ers (11-2, 2-0 C-USA)
snapped a three-game losing streak to UAB.

Nance and guard Brendan Plavich had 16 points each for
Charlotte. Nance scored 11 of his points after Curtis Withers,
Charlotte's leading scorer, left the game with his fourth foul.
That came with 8:55 left to play and Charlotte trailing 66-65.

Nance immediately scored on a dunk to put the 49ers in front
67-66. They stayed ahead the rest of the way. Demario Eddins had a
game-high 23 points to lead UAB (12-4, 2-1). Donell taylor scored
13 points, and Ronell Taylor and Derrick Broom had 12 each for UAB.
Marvett McDonald added 11 points for the Blazers.

The loss snapped a 16-game home winning streak for UAB.

After Nance's dunk, Charlotte built a seven-point lead with just
over seven minutes to play. UAB closed to within 79-78 and had the
ball with a chance to take the lead. But Basden tipped the ball
away from Eddins and Nance scored on a follow shot for Charlotte.
