ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Jason Thomas scored 17 points to lead
American University past Navy 66-60 Wednesday night.
Thomas also clinched the win for the Eagles (8-6, 1-1 in Patriot
League) with a pair of free throws with 12 seconds left to play.
Fannin also had a career-high 19 reboounds, the most by a Navy
player since David Robinson's 20 rebounds on February 6, 1986.
The loss was the fourth in a row for the Midshipmen, who have
also lost eight of their last nine games.
Raimondas Petrauskas added 12 points and Andre Ingram chipped in
11 for the Eagles. Linas Lekavicius had nine points and six assists
to help run the Eagles offense. Thomas led the Eagles with nine
Navy shot only 30.1 percent from the floor and made only eight
of 29 from three-point range. The Mids made only seven of 32 shots
to start the game, but hit four of their last seven in the first
half as AU led 29-28 after shooting just 37 percent. American shot
52 percent in the second half and made eight of its first nine
shots of the half.
The Eagles put together runs of 16-7 and 11-2 to build a 59-47
lead with 4:13 to play.
