BOSTON (AP) -- Chaz Carr scored 15 points and Rashad Bell added
13 to lead Boston University to a 67-51 win over Maryland-Baltimore
County on Thursday night.
The win, Boston University's fourth straight, kept the Terriers
(11-3, 5-0 America East) undefeated in league play and tied with
Vermont for first place heading into Sunday's showdown with the
Catamounts in Burlington. The Terriers have won 17 straight regular
season America East games dating back to a 59-57 to Vermont on Jan.
17, 2004.Boston put UMBC (6-8, 1-4) away early as five different Terriers
scored during a 17-4 run to open the game.The Terriers' defense, ranked fifth in NCAA Division I at 56.0
points per game entering play, forced 10 turnovers and held the
Retrievers to just 5-of-30 shooting in on the way to a 32-16
halftime lead.The Terriers opened the second half with a 12-2 run to jump
ahead 44-18.Brian Hodges and Andrew Feeley each scored 10 points for the
Retrievers, who shot just 30 percent from the field and fell to 1-5
on the road.Etienne Brower added 10 points for Boston U.
