PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) -- Pooh Jeter scored 15 points and Donald Wilson added 14 as Portland beat Pepperdine 81-71 Thursday to snap a 12-game losing streak against the Waves.

Portland (12-6, 1-2 West Coast Conference) trailed only once in the game, at 3-2, and led by as many as 15.

The Pilots hit 57 percent of their shots and had five players in double figures.

It was an impressive turnaround for Portland, which started the WCC season last week with sub-par performances against St. Mary's and Santa Clara.

Pepperdine (12-6, 2-1) lost despite getting 24 points from Glen McGowan and 23 from Alex Acker. The two combined for the Waves' first 16 points in the first half and 16 of the Wave's first 18 of the second half.

The Pilots had their biggest lead of the first half at 29-20 after eight consecutive points by Ben Sullivan, who finished with 13. ^
