Stephen F. Austin 85, Nicholls State 67

THIBODAUX, La. (AP) -- Marcus Clark scored a career-high 29
points as Stephen F. Austin defeated Southland Conference foe
Nicholls State 85-67 Wednesday night.

It was the third consecutive game in which Clark scored at least
20 points.

The Lumberjacks (8-7, 2-2 Southland) led by 11 points at
halftime, despite struggling at the free-throw line, shooting only
27 percent.

But Clark and Josh Porter led Stephen F. Austin to a second-half
offensive explosion as Porter finished the game with 19 points. The
Lumberjacks went through a stretch in the second half that saw them
connect on eight consecutive shots and hit 11-of-12, as the
Lumberjacks extended their lead to 20 points.

The Lumberjacks held Nicholls State (5-11, 0-5) to a 42 percent
shooting performance and outrebounded the Colonels 35-33.

Anthony Paez added 11 points for the Lumberjacks.

B.J. Searles led Nicholls State with 17 points, while Shawn King
added 13.
