LEWISTON, N.Y. (AP) -- Alvin Cruz's layup with 0.2 seconds left
in overtime gave Niagara a 75-73 win over Manhattan Saturday
Cruz took the ball at the top of the arc and drove past
Manhattan's Jason Wingate for an open layup that gave Niagara their
12th-straight home win. It also snapped a seven-game losing streak
to the Jaspers.
Manhattan (9-7, 4-4 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) trailed
by eight, 64-56, with 2:29 remaining in the second half but closed
the period with a 10-2 run.
After Niagara's Juan Mendez missed a pair of free throws with
11.8 seconds left, Wingate hit a layup with 2.7 seconds remaining
in regulation to tie the game at 66 and send it to overtime.
Mendez led Niagara (11-6, 6-3) with 19 points and 11 rebounds.
J.R. Duffey had 16 points and Cruz finished with 15.
Manhattan fell to 0-3 in overtime games this season.
