GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) -- Sophomore forward Moussa Diagne scored a game-high 19 as Furman broke free midway through the first half and cruised to a 71-51 win over Elon on Monday night.

Tony Carter added 15 and Gerad Punch 12 for the Paladins (11-8, 4-3), who turned a 9-9 deadlock into a 37-17 halftime advantage. Diagne and Punch scored 7 apiece during the surge, which started on a 3-point basket by George Brozos at the 10:32 mark and ended on Eric Webb's bonus shot, 22 seconds before intermission.

Furman scored the first 7 points of the second half, to stake its largest lead at 44-17. Elon rallied behind Brian Waters to close the gap to 16 at 48:32, but the Paladins quickly regained control at 60-35 on Webb's 3-point shot with 8:48 remaining.

Waters finished with 10 points for the Phoenix (2-18, 0-7), who lost their 13th straight, dating back to early December. Elon suffered 21 turnovers, 16 in the first half.
