JACKSON, Miss. (AP) -- Jesse Taylor had 24 points and made two clutch free throws to give Mississippi Valley State a 65-60 win over Jackson State on Saturday night.

Ronald Alexander had 14 points and Sandford Speech added 10 for the Delta Devils (8-9, 6-2 Southwestern Athletic Conference), who led by as many as 25 before the Tigers fought back.

Jackson State used a 20-4 run during a span of about seven minutes to close to 47-38, then pulled to 63-60 on Kelly Ross' 3-pointer with 45 seconds remaining.

But Taylor hit two free throws with 14 seconds remaining to ice the victory and keep MVSU in first place in the SWAC.

The Delta Devils have won three straight and five of their last six.

Dakari Wallace had 16 points and Antonio Williams-Parker added 14 to lead Jackson State (7-13, 3-5).

MVSU led 32-15 at halftime after holding the Tigers without a field goal over the final 10 minutes of the half.
