WASHINGTON (AP)-- Brandon Bowman scored 25 points and Georgetown held Seton Hall to 31 percent shooting from floor, beating the Pirates 61-51 Wednesday night.

The Hoyas (14-6, 6-3 Big East) didn't have much working on offense early, but were scoring at a torrid pace compared to the Pirates (10-8, 2-5).

Seton Hall missed all eight of its shots to start the game, with only three of them actually hitting the rim or the backboard. It took nearly six minutes for the Pirates to hit a field goal, putting them well on their way to a season-low 15 first-half points and 23 percent shooting before halftime.

Bowman finished 5-for-8 from the floor and an outstanding 14-for-15 from the foul line.

J.R. Morris had 15 points and 11 rebounds for the Pirates, who trailed by 15 with just more than five minutes to play. However, a 9-0 run brought the Pirates within six when Morris hit a jumper with 3:24 to play.

Seton Hall had two chances to get closer, but Morris missed a rushed 3-pointer and Kelly Whitney missed a tough shot in the lane with two minutes to play that resulted in a foul on Seton Hall.

Bowman hit the two free throws to push the lead back to eight and Seton Hall never seriously threatened again.

Georgetown, which led by 12 at halftime, hit seven 3-pointers in the game and shot 47 percent in the second half.

Ashanti Cook scored 12 points and Jeff Green added 10 for the Hoyas, who avoided their first two-game losing streak of the season. ^
