NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (AP) -- Lenny Jefferson scored 18 of his 21 points in the second half to power Central Connecticut past Sacred Heart 78-68 Friday night.

DeMario Anderson added 18 points for the Blue Devils (9-12, 5-7 Northeast) who made a season-high 13 three-pointers in 25 attempts. The victory was their 12th in their last 13 meetings with Sacred Heart (3-18, 2-10).

Kibwe Trim had 19 points and Ryon Howard contributed 17 for the Pioneers.

Central won despite the absence Obie Nwadike, its leading rebounder and second leading scorer, for almost the entire game. He suffered a sprained left ankle on a shot attempt after just 1:42. He was taken to the trainers' room and returned to the bench on crutches after halftime.

Six points from Joey Henley helped Sacred Heart to an early 15-6 advantage. But the Pioneers couldn't sustain the lead.

Central received 11 points from Anderson and shot 5-11 on threes to lead 30-28 at halftime.

Jefferson scored two consecutive three-point plays, and Javier Mojica and Tristan Blackwood added threes to build Central lead to 67-56.
