VMI 65, Longwood 52

LEXINGTON, Va. (AP) -- Matt Coward scored 18 points and had eight
rebounds as VMI broke a 13-game losing streak by defeating Longwood
65-52 Thursday night.

Fred Robinson was perfect off the bench, going 4-for-4 and
sinking all four free throws for 13 points for the Keydets (6-15),
and Reggie Williams added 10.

Michael Jefferson had 12 and Chad Kosmo added 11 points for
Longwood (1-24), which suffered its 13th consecutive loss. And
despite shooting only 33.8 percent on the night, Longwood took
advantage of VMI's 20 turnovers, scoring 14 on Keydet missteps.

VMI led by as many as 16 in the second half, but an 8-0 run cut
the lead down to 44-36 with 13:38 remaining. Longwood cut it down
to eight only once more, on a 3-pointer from Husein Pistoljevic
with 38 seconds left.
