PITTSBURGH (AP) -- Freshman Stanley Burrell had a career-high 32 points as Xavier overcame a slow start to defeat Duquesne Sunday afternoon.

Burrell, who was averaging 11.3 points per game and previously never scored more than 19, was 10 of 13 shooting from the field and converted all six of his shots from inside the 3-point line.

Josh Duncan added 11 points for the Musketeers (12-9, 6-4 Atlantic 10), who have won three in a row. Bryant McAllister led the Dukes (6-17, 3-7) with 20 points, and Kieron Achara added 10.

Duquesne used an early 10-0 run to take a 14-4 lead but Xavier took the lead for good just before halftime.

Xavier coach Sean Miller was coaching for the first time in Pittsburgh. Miller played at the University of Pittsburgh and grew up in the area.

The Musketeers are 5-0 against teams from the West Division of the Atlantic 10 and have won 13 of their last 16 meetings with Duquesne, which has lost three consecutive games.
