Appalachian St. 79, Longwood 65

BOONE, N.C. (AP) -- D.J. Thompson scored 15 points to lead
Appalachian State in a 79-65 win against Longwood on Wednesday

Four other players for Appalachian State (15-9) also scored in
double figures, with Noah Brown adding 14 and Herbert Jones
chipping in 11. Clint Deas added 10 points and nine rebounds.

Michael Jefferson scored 22 points for Longwood (1-27), while
Maurice Sumter and Husein Pistoljevic each added 14.

Longwood trailed just 36-31 at halftime despite shooting 40
percent from the field. They connected on 8 of 17 3-point attempts
in the second half, but managed to make just 4 of 16 shots inside
the arc.

They also couldn't keep up at the free-throw line, where the
Mountaineers were 20-for-31 to just 3-for-5 for Longwood.
