SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) -- Jermaine Blackburn scored eight of his 16 points in the final six minutes to help Boise State beat San Jose State 72-69 on Monday night.

Jason Ellis added 18 points as the Broncos (12-15, 5-10 Western Athletic Conference) won their second road game in 11 tries. Eric Lane scored 12 points, including a free throw with 10 seconds left for the final margin of victory.

Marquin Chandler scored 18 points to lead the Spartans (6-18, 3-11), who lost their sixth straight. Eric Bloom added 14 points.

The game featured the WAC's worst two offensive teams, but they kept the game entertaining despite playing their third game in five days.

Ellis, the Broncos career rebounding leader, went over 900 points. He became the first Boise State player to score more than 900 points and grab more than 800 rebounds. Blackburn became the 26th Bronco to score 400 points or more in a season. He has 408.

Bloom's 3-pointer with 11:11 remaining gave San Jose State its first lead since early in the game at 52-51. Neither team led by more than three points until the closing seconds, trading the lead four times with two ties.

San Jose State turned the ball over on two consecutive possessions in the final 2:35 without getting a shot off, allowing the Broncos to erase a three-point deficit with a short 6-0 run in the final three minutes.

Boise State hit six 3-pointers in the first 13 minutes -- Lane was 3-of-5 -- to open a 30-22 lead.

Donta Watson made a pair of free throws in the final minute as the Spartans rallied to within 36-32 by halftime.
