Creighton 74, Indiana State 55

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) -- Nate Funk scored 18 points and Johnny Mathies
added 16 to lead Creighton to a 74-55 victory over Indiana State on
Saturday, extending the Bluejays' winning streak to four games.

Tyler McKinney scored 12 points as the Bluejays (19-10, 10-7
Missouri Valley Conference) won for the fifth time in six games.
Until their current winning streak, they had won only two straight
once since starting the season 7-0.

Indiana State (10-18, 5-12) was led by David Moss with 18 points
and Eric Gray with 11.

The Sycamores, who trailed by 16 at halftime, scored the first
six points of the second half to get within 10 but couldn't sustain
their rally.

It was 40-27 when Jimmy Motz hit back-to-back 3-pointers to
boost the lead to 18. Motz, who didn't take a shot in the first
half, hit his third 3-pointer to make it 51-32.

The teams traded baskets for the next 10 minutes before McKinney
scored five straight points to make it 65-47 with less than six
minutes left. The Sycamores didn't get closer than 15 the rest of
the way.

The Bluejays, who shot 58 percent (14-for-24) in the first half,
led 26-13 less than four minutes before halftime. After the
Sycamores closed to 28-21, Creighton closed the half with a 9-0 run
to lead 37-21.

The teams split their season series, with Indiana State winning
76-74 at home on Dec. 22. However, Creighton has won 12 of the last
14 meetings between the teams.

In a postgame ceremony, the Bluejays honored McKinney and Kellen
Miliner, their two seniors.

McKinney, a four-year starter, received a standing ovation when
he was pulled with 2:19 left. A similar tribute was accorded
Miliner a minute later.
