LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Danny Granger scored a game-high 22 points and
grabbed eight rebounds to lead New Mexico over UNLV 77-66 on Monday
Granger scored 15 second-half points as the Lobos won their
fifth consecutive game and eighth in nine tries.
Troy DeVries scored 18 points, going 6-of-8 from 3-point range,
and David Chiotti had 18 points, going 7-of-9 from the field for
New Mexico (22-6, 9-4 Mountain West). Mark Walters added 14 points,
going 9-of-11 from the free-throw line.
The Lobos were 10-of-20 from 3-point range for 50 percent, while
the Rebels were 8-of-24 for 33 percent. From the field, New Mexico
was 26-of-45 for 58 percent while UNLV was 25-of-62 for 40 percent.
The Rebels cut the lead to 37-36 with 13:46 left, but New Mexico
pulled away and built its largest lead at 64-47 with 4:50
UNLV later cut the lead to seven twice in the final 1:21, but
could get no closer.
