SEATTLE (AP) -- Freshman Jon Brockman, one of the most heralded recruits in Washington basketball history, scored 17 points and snared 10 rebounds while senior forward Bobby Jones added 18 points -- 16 in a frenetic first half -- as the revamped Huskies steamrolled Morgan State 118-51 in the first round of the Black Coaches Association Classic Sunday night.

It was the second-highest point total in Washington history. The Huskies beat Chico State 130-67 on Dec. 1, 1992.

Timothy Mathis' 10 points led the Bears (0-1) of Baltimore, who last season finished sixth at 14-16 in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference.

Washington (1-0) will face Wisconsin-Green Bay, a 71-48 winner over North Carolina-Greensboro Sunday night, in a second-round game on Monday night.

The Huskies -- unranked in the preseason after going 29-6, earning a number-one seed in the NCAA tournament and finishing eighth in last season's final poll -- began with the same relentless pressure of an overmatched foe they used seven days earlier in an exhibition win over Canada's Simon Fraser.

Forward Bobby Jones began the track meet with a breakaway dunk, part of an 11-0 spurt over the game's first four minutes.

That was one of three fast-break slams in the opening half for Jones, one of Washington's three senior starters. He added a three-point basket and finished the period with 16 points.

Washington's full-court press forced Morgan State into 22 first-half turnovers -- and 36 overall. The Huskies kept the Bears from reaching double figures in points until 7:08 remained in the first half. By then, the Huskies led 37-11.

Washington's largest lead was 44 in its runaway first half, 61-17 within the final minute.
