LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Mike Efevberha scored 21 of his 36 points in the first half and sank the winning 3-pointer with 1 minute, 4 seconds remaining to give Cal State Northridge a 77-71 victory Tuesday over Tulsa.

After Tulsa (0-2) went on a 12-3 run to tie the game at 70-70, a wide-open Efevberha received a pass on the right side from Jonathan Heard and drained the 3-pointer. He made two free throws with 12.3 seconds to play to give Northridge a 76-71 lead.

Playing in just his second game with the Matadors (2-0), Efevberha put himself in the school record book.

His14 field goals and 25 attempts were the most since the school went Division I in 1990. His 21 first-half points were the most by a Matador in 12 years, and his 36 points place him third all-time for Cal State Northridge in the Division I era.

Efevberha scored 20 points in the Matadors' 81-76 overtime victory at USC on Sunday.

Heard scored 15 points for Northridge and Keith Everage scored 14, 12 in the second half.

Deion James scored 18 points and pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds for Tulsa (0-2). Anthony Price scored 13, and Ray Reese and Charles Ramsdell scored 12 apiece.
