Marquette 73, Oral Roberts 70

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) -- Ousmane Barro scored six points to key
a late run and Marquette hung on to defeat Oral Roberts 73-70
Friday night in the semifinals of the Carrs/Safeway Great Alaska
Shootout.

No team led by more than six until Marquette (3-1) went on a
10-1 run to take its biggest lead, 66-55, with 3:03 remaining.
Barro, who played just 16 minutes and fouled out with 2:50
remaining, hit two baskets and two free throws in the run.

Oral Roberts (1-2) closed to 72-70 with 10.5 seconds remaining
when Andrew Meloy hit one of two free throws.

After Marquette's Dominic James hit the second of two free
throws with 9.7 seconds left, Oral Roberts had one more chance to
tie. But guard Jonathan Bluitt missed a 3-pointer with five seconds
left and Marquette ran out the clock.

James finished with 15 points but shot just 4-for-13 from the
field and 6-for-11 from the free throw line. Barro and Steve Novak
added 12 and Dan Fitzgerald finished with 11.

Caleb Green scored 28 points and pulled down 12 rebounds for
Oral Roberts. His dominating play inside and 16 first-half points
helped forge a 32-32 halftime tie.

Ken Tutt had 21 points for Oral Roberts.

Marquette will play the winner of Monmouth-South Carolina for
the tournament championship Saturday. Oral Roberts will play the
loser.
