LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Mike Efevberha scored 33 points in just 28
minutes to lead five players in double figures in Cal State
Northridge's 117-55 non-conference victory Thursday against Hope,
an NAIA school.
The point total ranks tied for third all-time in Cal State
Northridge history and is the most scored since the Matadors posted
117 points in December 2002 against Bethany, another NAIA school.
The Matadors annually play one NAIA team early each season and
has won the last eight by an average of 43 points.
Efevberha added three steals and five assists. The junior guard
is averaging 26 points a game for Northridge (4-1) and entering
Thursday's game was ranked 13th nationally in scoring.
For the Matadors, Jonathan Heard also scored 17 points, Terrell
Jones added 16 points, Keith Everage scored 13 points, and Austin
Waggener added 11 points with 11 rebounds. The Matadors shot 56
percent from the floor and forced 16-of-28 turnovers by steals.
Carlos Villareal led Hope (0-5) with 15 points, and 5-foot-7
Joey Kinnard added 13 points.
