MOBILE, Ala. (AP) -- Chey Christie scored all 16 of his points in
the second half and had 12 rebounds, leading South Alabama to a
55-52 win over Samford on Saturday.
South Alabama (4-1) trailed most of the first half, allowing the
Bulldogs to lead by as much as 8, before going on a 7-2 run to
narrow the gap to 22-21 at halftime.The Jaguars gained momentum in the second half, opening with an
11-0 run to take the lead for good and lead by as many as 15
points. South Alabama hit 54.5 percent of its second half shots.Samford fought back to cut the lead to three, but could get no
closer.Jerry Smith led the Bulldogs (3-3) with 16 points on 7-of-13
shooting and scoring two 3-pointers. Smith also had 10 rebounds. J.
Robert Merritt added 15 points.
