HOUSTON (AP) -- J.R. Harrison scored 27 points and Lorenzo Williams had 23, and Rice survived missing several key free throws to beat Utah 96-94 in triple overtime Saturday.

Morris Almond added 20 points for Rice, which missed eight foul shots in the last 20 seconds of regulation and each overtime.

The last three came in the third overtime. Bryant Markson's dunk with four seconds left got Utah within two, and the Owls missed two free throws after a foul. But Tim Drisdom missed a 3-pointer to end the game.

Rice (3-3) was 9-of-18 from the foul line in overtime but held Utah (4-1) to just 36 percent shooting from the field in the three extra periods.

Markson and Jonas Langvad led Utah (4-1) with 19 points and Johnnie Bryant had 15, including a layup with 10 seconds left in the first overtime that forced another extra period. Utah's Luke Nevill forced a third extra period when he tipped in Markson's missed layup, tying the game at 90.

Patrick Britton scored 11 points for Rice, which won despite being outrebounded 60-34. The Owls went to the foul line 47 times, making 68 percent.
