UC Irvine 68, San Jose State 58

IRVINE, Calif. (AP) -- Darren Fells had 19 points, eight rebounds
and a career-high five steals to lead UC Irvine to a 68-58 victory
over San Jose State on Saturday night.

Aaron Fitzgerald added 18 points and Ross Schraeder scored 15
for the Anteaters (4-3), who shot 56.3 percent from the floor and
58.3 percent from 3-point range.

Alex Elam scored 14 of his season-high 19 points in the second
half for the Spartans (3-4), who shot 38.2 percent in their third
consecutive loss. Carlton Spencer added 11 points.

Elam scored eight points and Spencer had six in a 16-4 surge
that narrowed San Jose State's deficit to 52-50 with 5:07 to play.
