Bucknell 57, DePaul 52

ROSEMONT, Ill. (AP) -- Kevin Bettencourt scored 16 points and
Chris McNaughton added 12 points to lead Bucknell to a 57-52
victory over DePaul on Saturday.

Bucknell is 5-0 for the first time since the 1983-84 season and
only the third time since 1936.

Bucknell, a member of the Patriot League, upset Kansas in the
first round of the NCAA tournament last season and also beat
Syracuse at the Carrier Dome on Nov. 22. They will host No. 4
Villanova on Tuesday.

DePaul closed within 53-51 with 2:14 left and had a chance to
tie the game with freshman Wilson Chandler on the line with 53.9
left, but he missed the first shot of a 1-in-1.

McNaughton had a basket with 21.4 left and Bettencourt made two
free throws to put Bucknell up 57-52 with 11.5 seconds left.

DePaul (2-3) got within 41-40 on Sammy Mejia's two free throws,
but Bucknell came back with a 3 from Bettencourt and a layup by
Charles Lee to extend their lead to 46-40 with 8:22 left in the

Abe Badmus scored nine and Lee finished with eight points for

Trailing 4-0 early, Bucknell went on a 12-2 run. Bettencourt and
John Griffin hit back-to-back 3's for the Bison to take a 12-6
lead. Bucknell led 32-25 at the half and shot 57 percent from the
field. Mejia scored 11 points for DePaul in the first half and
finished with 20.
