DETROIT (AP) -- Brandon Cotton scored 24 points to lead Detroit
to a 77-74 overtime win over Western Michigan on Saturday.
Jon Goode added a career-high 21 for the Titans (4-3), who
scored the last seven points of the extra period.
Joe Reitz had 25 points to lead the Broncos (1-3) but missed two
free throws with 15 seconds to play in overtime when his team
trailed 75-74. Western Michigan, which has not defeated a Division
I opponent this season, also got 11 points from Brian Snider.
Detroit (4-3) trailed 74-70 with 2 minutes to play in overtime
but tied the score when Cotton made a free throw with a minute to
play. Goode split a pair of free throws with 32 seconds left to
give the Titans the lead for good.
The Broncos' Andrew Hershberger made a pair of free throws with
32 seconds to play in the second half to tie the game, which went
to overtime after both teams missed potential game-winning shots in
the last 10 seconds.
Detroit led by as many as 14 points in the first half and was up
59-50 with 8 minutes to play in the second before a 7-0 Western
Michigan rally tightened the game.
Chuck Bailey had 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Titans before
fouling out late in the second half.
