BERKELEY, Calif. (AP) -- Leon Powe had 22 points and eight rebounds to lead California to its sixth straight win, an 82-64 victory over San Diego State on Tuesday night.

Richard Midgley added 17 points and five assists while Ayinde Ubaka chipped in with 13 points, five rebounds and five assists for the Bears (6-1), who have not lost since a season-opening two-point defeat to Eastern Michigan. It's their longest winning streak since winning eight straight in 2003.

All six wins during the streak have come at home for California, which plays its next four and seven of the next nine away from home.

Marcus Slaughter recorded his fourth double-double of the season with 22 points and 13 rebounds for San Diego State. The Aztecs (4-3) committed 20 turnovers in the game and shot only 38.5 percent from the floor in the second half.

The Bears missed their first three shots of the second half but went on a 16-6 run to take a 20-point lead that was never challenged. California made a season-high 10 3-pointers en route to its most lopsided victory of the season.

Playing in just his third game since recovering from knee and foot injuries, Powe had eight points in the first half but warmed up in the second half when the Bears blew the game open. The sophomore forward scored on back-to-back dunks then later made his first career 3-pointer to put the Bears up 72-48 with under 6 minutes to play.

Powe went 9-for-14 from the floor. He has scored in double figures in each of the three games he has played this season and is averaging 25 points and 9.3 rebounds.

The Aztecs were making their first visit to Berkeley since 1940-41. The teams played last season in San Diego with the Bears winning 60-57.

California didn't have nearly as much trouble handling the Aztecs this time. The Bears opened a 10-point halftime lead then doubled that early in the second half while cruising to the easy win.

Midgley became the 34th player in Bears history to reach 1,000 points for his career. The senior guard made his first three 3-pointers and had 11 points in the first half.

The Aztecs fell behind early but went on a 13-2 run over a five-minute span to take the lead. Slaughter scored eight straight points then turned the ball over to John Sharper, who hit a 3-pointer and a nine-foot jumper to push San Diego ahead 17-14 midway through the first half.

Powe began California's comeback with six points and had a key block during a 14-0 run. The Bears, who opened the game shooting 7-for-16 from the floor, made eight of their last 11 shots of the half to take a 42-32 lead.

Sharper finished with 15 points for San Diego State.
