BOSTON (AP) -- Corey Hassan scored 17 points and Kevin Gardner added 16 as Boston University beat Harvard, 72-63, Tuesday night.

The Terriers (1-5) went on a 20-6 run starting late in the first half to snap an eight-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Harvard (5-2) was playing without center Brian Cusworth, who broke his left hand in Saturdays loss to Central Connecticut. The Crimson shot just 34 percent from the field and 56 percent from the free-throw line. Leading scorer Jim Goffredo was held to 10 points.

The Terriers shot 53 percent from the field and 61 percent from beyond the 3-point line. Shaun Wynn had 12 points and five assists and Ibrahim Konate added eight points and seven rebounds for BU.

Matt Stehle, who had 19 points and 11 rebounds for Harvard, made three free throws with 2:25 remaining in the first half to give the Crimson its only lead of the game, 30-28. But the Terriers pulled ahead 37-32 by halftime.

Stehle's layup with 4:19 left pulled Harvard to within five points, 64-59, but BU sealed the win on its next possession when Wynn grabbed an offensive rebound and assisted on Konate's dunk.
