ROSEMONT, Ill. (AP) -- Draelon Burns scored a career-high 20 points to lead DePaul to a 70-66 victory over Alabama-Birmingham on Tuesday night.

Karron Clarke and Sammy Mejia both added 15 points for DePaul (3-3), which beat its former conference rival.

Trailing 38-31 with 16:06 left in the game, DePaul responded with a 18-6 run. Burns hit two 3's and Clarke converted one of his two three-point plays during the span to put DePaul up 49-44 with 10:22 left.

Freshman Wilson Chandler had a steal off of Demario Eddins with 46 seconds to go, and Burns hit a jumper with 18.6 seconds left to secure the win for DePaul.

Wen Mukubu scored 14 points for Alabama Birmingham (3-2), and Eddins and Marvett McDonald both ended with 13 points.

DePaul, formerly a member of Conference USA before joining the Big East, lost their final C-USA game to Alabama-Birmingham in the conference tournament last season.

Chandler finished with eight points and 10 rebounds for DePaul.

The Blazers made 7-of-11 from 3-point range in the first half and led 31-26. Eddins, McDonald and Richard Jones all scored six points for Alabama-Birmingham in the half.
