LYNCHBURG, Va. (AP) -- Parnell Smith scored 16 points and Calvin Cage had 13 Tuesday night as Buffalo started fast and never trailed in a 66-53 victory against Liberty.

The Bulls (7-1) also got 12 points each from Yassin Idbihi and Mario Jordan. They led 34-24 at halftime and enjoyed their largest margin of the night at the final buzzer.

The Flames (2-4) were led by Larry Blair with 30 points. He finished 13-for-25 from the field; the rest of the team was 7-for-24. Buffalo's reserves outscored Liberty's 19-9.

The victory came in the Bulls' first game since they drew a vote in this week's top 25 of The Associated Press, their first recognition in the poll since they rejoined Division I in 1992.
