INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- Skip Mills had 18 points and 10 rebounds Wednesday night as Ball State rallied in the final minutes to a 53-50 victory over cold-shooting IUPUI.

The Jaguars (3-4) led 28-23 at halftime but hit just 4-of-20 shots in the second period and managed only three free throws over the final 3:29.

IUPUI's last lead was at 48-46, then Ball State (3-1) went in front for good with consecutive 3-pointers by Jalon Perryman and Mills. The Jaguars pulled within 52-50 on two free throws by David Barlow with 1:10 to go, and neither team scored until Brandon Lampley hit the first of two foul shots for Ball State with one second remaining.

George Hill, who led IUPUI with 24 points and 13 rebounds, got the ball off Lampley's miss, and Barlow missed a 3-point attempt that could have tied the game at the buzzer.

Perryman added 10 points for the Cardinals. IUPUI, which shot 27.5 percent from the field, also got 10 points from Perryman.

The Jaguars jumped to an early lead, with Hill and Barlow getting five points each in a 10-1 start, but Ball State tied the game three times before IUPUI pulled away to its 5-point lead at the half.
