WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) -- Tim Clifford scored 21 points on
9-for-12 shooting as Holy Cross took control early in a 64-41 win
over Brown on Wednesday night.
Keith Simmons added 14 points for Holy Cross (4-4), which
limited Brown to 29 percent shooting in the game and forced 19
Sam Manhanga scored 18 to lead the Bears (1-5), who lost their
third in a row.
Manhanga scored two field goals as the Bears took an early 9-5
lead, but Torey Thomas found Simmons for an alley-oop dunk that
sparked a 14-2 run for Holy Cross over the next 7:42.
Clifford had four straight field goals during the run, the last
one a dunk after a behind-the-back pass from Colin Cunningham.
Manhanga scored eight points as Brown pulled within 26-21 with
4:57 left in the first half, but Holy Cross finished the half with
an 11-1 run for a 37-22 halftime lead.
Brown pulled within 11 early in the second half, but Kevin
Hamilton hit a 3-pointer to ignite a run that gave the Crusaders a
52-32 lead with less than 10 minutes to play.
