ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) -- Courtney Sims scored a career-high 33 points and had 13 rebounds Wednesday night to lead Michigan to a 69-49 win over Delaware State.

The victory gave coach Tommy Amaker his best start at Michigan (6-0) and the school's best since the 1999-00 season.

Jahsha Bluntt scored 24 points for the Hornets (2-6), who played the eighth game of a season-opening 11-game road trip.

Delaware State cut Michigan's lead to six points with a seven-point rally midway through the second half, but the Wolverines answered with an 18-2 run to put the game away. The Hornets made just four of their first 23 field-goal attempts in the second half.

Sims left the game with 2 minutes to play, having made as many field goals (13) as Delaware State. The Hornets finished the game 14-for-52 from the floor and were outrebounded 43-18.

The Hornets started the game 1-for-12 from the field and trailed 16-2 after 9 minutes, but they caught up thanks to 10 Michigan turnovers. Dion Harris gave the Wolverines a 32-24 halftime lead when he hit a shot from just inside the half-court line as the halftime buzzer sounded.

Lester Abram had 10 points for Michigan, and Daniel Horton added nine assists.
