Pittsburgh 71, Duquesne 60

PITTSBURGH (AP) -- Carl Krauser had 23 points to lead visiting
Pittsburgh to a 71-60 win over intra-city rival Duquesne on
Wednesday night.

Playing against a team with no starters taller than 6-foot-7,
7-foot Aaron Gray added 14 points and a career-high 17 rebounds for
Pitt, which is 6-0 for the fourth season in a row.

Bryant McAllister had 18 points and five assists to lead the
Dukes in both categories.

Duquesne (1-4) shot only 28 percent from the field in the first
half and went a stretch of 9:59 with only one field goal, during
which Pitt went on an 18-4 run.

Duquesne got as close as six in the second half after a
McAllister 3-point play, but the Panthers immediately followed with
an 8-0 run.

The Dukes shot only 35 percent from the field and made only four
of 15 free throws.

Pitt, which was playing its first game away from its on-campus
Petersen Events Center, improved to 43-31 in the all-time "City
Game" series against its rival about two miles down Pittsburgh's
Fifth Avenue. The Panthers have won 24 of the last 27, including
five in a row.

Duquesne was playing its first game since learning it had lost
junior forward Kieron Achara for the season. The preseason
second-team all-Atlantic 10 conference team member will undergo
surgery for a torn labrum in his left shoulder.
