Sam Houston St. 61, Southern Miss 57

HUNTSVILLE, Texas (AP) -- Jejuan Plair scored 18 points,
including four free throws in the final 33 seconds Wednesday night,
to lead Sam Houston State to a 61-57 victory over Southern
Mississippi.

Plair also had nine assists and three steals. Shamir McDaniel
and Ryan Bright each added 16 points for Sam Houston State (6-1).

Sam Houston State took the lead for good when Reggie Rawlins hit
a layup to make it 53-51 with 3:40 left. Plair made it 61-57 with a
pair of free throws with 14 seconds left.

Jarekus Singleton came off the bench to lead Southern Miss (2-5)
with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Shaun Simpson added 16 points and
David Cornwell added 13.

Southern Miss led 29-24 at the half.
