KENT, Ohio (AP) -- DeAndre Haynes scored 17 points with five
3-pointers, and Kent State used 57 percent shooting to defeat IPFW
86-61 Thursday night.
The Golden Flashes (5-2) went 18-of-28 from the field in the
first half to build a 46-29 lead. IPFW (2-6) hit only 11 of 28
first-half shots and finished at 39 percent.Kent State made 9-of-20 behind the 3-point line, with Haynes
going 5-for-7. IPFW was 5-for-17 from 3-point range.DeWitt Scott led the Mastodons with 19 points, and Justin
Hawkins and Kyle Savely each scored 10.Nate Gerwig added 16 points for Kent State and Mike Scott had
12, including five in a 9-0 run that put the Golden Flashes ahead
to stay 16-10 with 12:41 left in the first half.Kent State doubled its lead over the next five minutes and led
by as many as 21 in the first half.
