KALAMAZOO, Mich. (AP) -- Stane's Bufford scored 21 points to tie
a career high and lead Western Michigan to a 73-72 victory over
IUPUI on Saturday.
IUPUI's George Hill also tied a career high, scoring 26 points
for the Jaguars (3-5). He scored 18 of his points, including 10
free throws, in the second half.A free throw by Andrew Hershberger with 1:46 left provided the
winning point for Western (2-3), which broke a three-game losing
streak.IUPUI, which nearly overcame a 12-point deficit, trimmed
Western's lead to one point and had the ball with 5.5 seconds left.
But David Barlow brought the ball upcourt and was unable to get a
shot off before the game-ending buzzer sounded.Hershberger had a double-double, scoring 15 points and grabbing
a career-high 12 rebounds. Brian Snider had a game-high nine
assists for the Broncos.IUPUI's Brandon Cole had his first double-double of the season,
scoring 17 points and totaling 11 rebounds. Matt Burks added 15
points for the Jaguars.Western's bench outscored IUPUI's bench, 18-5, led by six points
each from Shawntes Gary and Wes deVries.
