Fla Atlantic 59, Central Florida 54

BOCA RATON, Fla. (AP) -- Rodney Webb had a double-double with 11
points and 10 rebounds as Florida Atlantic beat Central Florida
59-54 Tuesday.

Florida Atlantic started off strong and pulled ahead with a 14-0
run at the start of the game.

The Owls (3-2) have now won three straight games after knocking
off the Golden Knights, who won the last two Atlantic Sun
Conference titles before moving into Conference USA this season.

Florida Atlantic held a double-digit lead through most of the
game before faltering and having to fight off the Golden Knights
(4-2), who pulled within one point three times in the final 2:45.

DeAndre Rice came into the game averaging 23.3 points but was
0-for-8 until 2:11 left in the game. That is when he made a basket
to give Florida Atlantic a 53-51 lead. After the Knights came
within one at 55-54, Rice hit another basket with 22 seconds left
that gave the Owls the cushion they needed.

Florida Atlantic's zone defense held Central Florida to 17
points in the first half. Josh Peppers led the second-half comeback
for the Knights, scoring 17 of his 24 points.
