Southern Miss 90, William Carey 57

HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) -- Shaun Simpson scored 20 points to lead
Southern Mississippi to a 90-57 win over William Carey on Thursday
night.

David Cornwell added 15 points, Mildon Ambres tacked on 13 and
Jarekus Singleton added 11 for Southern Miss, which beat NAIA
member William Carey for the third straight season, scoring at
least 90 points in each of those victories against the Crusaders.

Ambres had a team-high six rebounds.

Southern Miss led for most of the way, often by double figures.
William Carey never got closer than 11 points in the second half.

Braxton Robins scored a team high 17 points for William Carey
(0-9), while Scotty Fletcher added 15.

Southern Miss (3-6) hit 57.8 percent of its shots from the floor
and held William Carey to 46.3 percent. The Golden Eagles held a
31-27 edge in rebounding.

With the win, the Golden Eagles snapped a two-game losing
streak.
