KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- P.J. Couisnard and Sean Ogirri combined
for 29 points to lead Wichita State to a 77-55 win over
Missouri-Kansas City on Saturday night.
Wichita State (8-2) led only 35-29 at halftime, but Couisnard
scored the first nine points of the second half to give the
Shockers a cushion.Couisnard had two steals for lay-ups, two free throws and a
3-point basket from the right corner as the Shockers took a 44-29
lead just two minutes into the second half.UMKC (3-5) got within 52-40 when Brent Stephens hit a 3-point
shot with 11:39 left.Then Ogirri, who finished with 15 points, started hitting from
long range. He made three 3-point shots within two minutes to give
Wichita State a 61-42 lead with 9:04 left. He finished 5-of-7 from
3-point range.The largest lead for the Shockers was 75-49 with 2:36 left.The loss extended the Kangaroos' losing streak to four games.Quinton Day led UMKC with a game-high 16 points, and Tim
Blackwell had 12.
