NEW YORK (AP) -- Antoine Agudio scored a career-high 24 points to
lead Hofstra to a 74-59 victory over Dartmouth on Saturday.
Agudio, who finished 5-for-9 from 3-point range, scored 11 of
Hofstra's first 12 points en route to a 15-2 lead in the opening
5:35. The Pride (6-2) led 41-24 at halftime.
Zygis Sestokas and Carlos Rivera hit consecutive 3-pointers to
give Hofstra its largest lead, 65-38, with 9:06 left. Hofstra,
which shot 9-for-22 from behind the arc (40.9 percent), cleared its
bench and Dartmouth made its first run of the game, closing to
70-59 with 1:47 left.
Agudio, who scored 22 points three times in his career, was
coming off a season-low five points against Stony Brook. The
sophomore guard is the second leading scorer on the team at 13.7
points per game.
Hofstra improved its recent record at Madison Square Garden to
7-2, including the Holiday Festival titles in 1998 and 1999.
