Pepperdine 92, Long Beach State 86

MALIBU, Calif. (AP) -- Tashaan Forehan-Kelly had 23 points and 10
rebounds and Michael Gerrity added 21 points and six assists as
Pepperdine beat Long Beach State 92-86 Saturday night.

Pepperdine (2-6), which snapped a four-game losing streak, shot
52.2 percent (35-for-67) one game after shooting a season-low 29.2
percent in a loss at Colorado State.

The Waves got 19 points from Willie Galick and 11 from Chase

Kevin Houston led Long Beach State (2-6), loser of four
straight, with 19 points, while Jibril Hodges scored 18 points and
Kejuan Johnson had 15.

The 49ers never recovered from a dismal first half in which they
shot just 33 percent (11 of 33) on the way to a 46-32 halftime

Long Beach State, which shot 46.2 percent (30-for-65) for the
game, gradually cut into Pepperdine's lead in the second half
thanks to a bevy of 3-pointers.

The 49ers were 8-for-14 from behind the arc in the second half
and finished 11-for-26 for the game.

Long Beach State got to within five, 83-78, on Houston's lay-up
with 1:09 left but were forced to put Pepperdine at the line down
the stretch.

The Waves made five of eight free throws in the final minute to
seal the win.
