Demetrius Nelson led The Citadel with 11 points.

The Catamounts made 13 3-pointers, one shy of a school record set earlier this season.

The Citadel (7-4, 0-1) kept the game close through opening nine minutes of the first half, trailing just 14-12. Western Carolina then went on an 8-0 run at the 11:04 mark for a 10-point lead.

The Catamounts expanded the deficit to 41-21 at the break and went on to control the second half.
